The academic deans in the College of Arts & Sciences answer questions and provide advice and guidance for undergraduate College students at the University of Virginia. The administrative office of the College is located in Monroe Hall on central grounds at UVA.
Association Deans
An Association Dean’s primary responsibility is to advise you on academic matters and refer you to the proper agencies and offices. Do not hesitate to call on your Dean.
Faculty Advisors
All Faculty Advisors are trained to be general academic advisors, and are prepared to help you or refer you to the appropriate person.
Special Advising Deans
Deans can answer questions about specific programs or areas such as transfer students, academic achievement program, scholarships, foreign language placement, interdisciplinary majors, second writing requirement, etc.
Directors of Undergraduate Programs
Each major program is overseen by an Undergraduate Program Director. Questions about major requirements, opportunities for majors, declaring a major, etc. should be directed to this person.
Foreign Language Coordinators
Students with questions about foreign language testing, placement, etc., should contact the Foreign Language Coordinator.
