Sheri Gayle Richman Memorial Scholarship

Eligibility

Fourth-year Echols Sholars in the humanities and social sciences (not the physical sciences) intending to enter a program of graduate of professional study in the fall of 2003 are eligible to apply for the Sheri Gayle Richman Memorial Scholarship.

Application

Due:  March 14, 2008

The application consists of one essay of approximately 1000 words in which the applicant should reflect on his or her carrer at the University and relate academic work, activities, jobs, and other experiences to future progessional and personal goals. The applicant should also state to what graduate or professional program he or she has applied. Financial need may be described but will be used as a criterion only in cases of a tie based on other criteria. Applicants should also submit one letter of recommendation from a faculty member familiar with their work.

The application essay (single spaced, in print, not by email or fax) and recommendation letter should be submitted to Assistant Dean William Wilson, College of Arts and Sciences, 101 Garrett Hall.

The Scholarship was established for Echols Scholars by the family of Sheri Gayle Richman, an Echols Scholar and a 1988 graduate of the College. She was to enter the University of Chicago Law School when she was killed in an automobile accident on June 7, 1988.
