Edit A&S Website with Contribute

The Arts & Sciences website (which you're now looking at!) is updated by administrators and staff within the Dean's Office, College, Graduate School, etc who need to communicate with students and faculty about deadlines, forms and other information.

A&S website editors use Adobe Contribute, a desktop client software, to update administrative content. This software needs to be purchased and installed on your desktop.

1. Request access to edit webpages

Email and include your email ID and your organization or department.

2. Confirm or create Eservices password

You must use your Eservices account password to login and edit web pages.

  1. If you have not yet created an Eservices account, or are not sure what your password is, create or change your password.
  2. If you have already established an Eservices account, you can confirm or check your Eservices password.

3. Verify or install Contribute software

  1. Determine whether Contribute CS3 or a newer version is installed on your computer. (Contact your LSP if you need help with this step.)
  2. If you do not have Contribute CS3 or newer installed:
    1. Purchase Contribute
    2. Install Contribute CS3 onto your computer.
    3. Take the Contribute tutorial.

4. Review editorial style guide & Web best practices

To ensure that content in the A&S website remains consistent throughout the site, review the editorial style guide and the Web best practices.

  1. Review the editorial style guide
  2. Review best practices
  3. Creating/editing and naming images

5. Set up your Contribute connection

  1. Open Contribute
  2. Enter "connect:cps.clas.virginia.edu" in the address bar.
  3. Login with your UVA ID and password (eservices).
  4. Check "Trust this server".
  5. Begin to edit your webpage.
